The story of Silver Wings, a 1920 Chrysler special, and its recreation was one of my more successful stories, and I sold it to several publications including Vintage Motorsport, Restored Cars and an airline in-flight magazine. |

Also published in more than one magazine was the story of the development of Ford's amazing Falcon Rallye Sprint, that all but won the 1964 Monte Carlo Rally. It was conceived in Detroit, developed in North Carolina by Holman Moody and prepared for the rally by Lincoln Cars in the UK. Also included in the story was the fight to have the Falcon accepted as an historic touring car in Australia and the development of Bill Meeke's WA based car. The story was published in Vintage Motorsport in the USA and Classic American in the UK. For the Falcon Rallye Sprint story, contact Bob Campbell. |

In early 2003 I was commissioned to write a story for Racebreed Australia about something completely different – race horses. A recent innovation at thoroughbred yearling sales is the practice of X-raying the young horses. Each horse is X-rayed from 34 different angles to show up any possible faults in the horse's bone structure. Buyers can examine the X-rays before purchase. It is recommended that a buyer should be accompanied by a vet who can interpret the X-rays. The article examined the pros and cons of the X-ray examinations and was well received by readers of this highly regarded publication. A year later I wrote a second article for Racebreed Australia, this time describing the export of thoroughbreds to Africa by air. At present (March 2005) I am preparing two further stories for Racebreed Australia for the May 2005 and July 2005 issues. |

Since June 2003 I have had a series of articles about Grand Prix motor racing published in the web magazine Pitpass.com. They are mainly about the differences between racing now and the events of fifty years ago.
The 1950s have been described as the Golden Age of Grand Prix racing and in many ways it was. In the words of Stirling Moss: "In those days it was a sport". But everything was not rosy in the garden. Many drivers were killed in accidents that they might have survived in today's cars on today's tracks, and some of the races were just as boring as today's processional events. However, the differences and similarities provide material for a great number of stories and I'm going to write some of them. Check out the "features" section of www.pitpass.com for my contributions. |

In late 2005 I was commissioned to produce multi-page articles for Dialog, the magazine of Diabetes Australia WA, which told the story of Diabetes Australia in Western Australia. There will also be an A5 book, similar to those I wrote for the Duyfken Project and for the Perth Electric Tramway Society, with a more detailed history than was possible in the article. |
