Having told many businesses of the benefits of a regular newsletter, I had to produce one of my own. Bob's Words first appeared in Spring 2001. Since then it has lost that title and is now distributed by email. The presentation has been refined over time and I am continually working on ways to make it more interesting and more reader friendly.

Since May 2004 each article has been held separately on the web site. The email has links to the articles and each article has links to the others. 

From November 2005 I am using a new method of distribution. This allows me to monitor the newsletter and records which have been opened and which have had the built-in links triggered. I shall be offering a similar facility to all of my clients as soon as I am familiar with it.

Some advantages of email newsletters are:

• The email is shorter and therefore quicker to download and easier to read.
• It brings the reader into your web site, the first thing that is needed to make your web site work.
• It allows you to monitor readership and usage of the newsletter.
  
• If the reader has missed the related stories from earlier newsletters, they can be available on the web site.
• It avoids the need for attachments to your email, which are regarded with suspicion by many email users.
